ODONTELLA SAS, a pioneer in alternatives for fish, shellfish and crustaceans, is the very first company to develop products based on Microalgae and Marine Algae.
ODONTELLA SAS announces that it has signed 2 contracts with major supermarket distributers of Vegan foods for several million euros.
After a remarkable start in France with the launch of its Solmon® product in 2018, ODONTELLA SAS has achieved further success, this time in Europe with the signing, in 2019 and 2020, of two partnerships involving distribution in more than 24 countries in retail brand and Co-Branding. The company has orders to deliver at least 500,000 Solmon® products by December 2020.
At the same time, ODONTELLA SAS continues to develop new products on the basis of its patent portfolio containing 7 patent families. These new products will be presented to the market via its partners from 2021.
The flexitarian food market
ODONTELLA SAS is focused on the market for Vegan products in Europe which represents a market of several billion euros, which has been growing steadily for several years.
It is estimated that Vegans represent 3% of the French population while flexitarians (who reduce their consumption of meat) represent nearly 30% of the population.
Sales of vegetarian and vegan products generated a 24% increase in turnover in 2018 in large and medium French sales distribution and should reach € 600 million in France in 2021.
Sales of protein substitutes have grown by 6.4% globally each year since 2015, and are expected to reach nearly 5 billion euros in 2020, with more than 60% growth expected by 2021.
Founded in 2016 in the Bordeaux region, the company utilizes the patents of Dr Pierre Calleja, Doctor of microalgae biotechnology, Winner of the Pierre Potier Award (2012) and the Doyen Jean de Feytaud Award from the Academy of Sciences(2015).
